Surveillance

Mosquito surveillance is an ongoing process by which the District determines the overall population density as well as the species composition within that population. The guiding force for all control operations in any IMM program is based upon the data obtained through regular surveillance.

Control Methods

Tangipahoa Mosquito Abatement District #1 (TMAD) uses an IPM approach. IPM stands for Integrated Pest Management, which simply means that multiple control measures are used instead of a single method. TMAD utilizes Education, Source Reduction, Biological Controls, Larviciding and Adulticiding.
