Colby Colona is the director of Tangipahoa Mosquito Abatement. She graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and in 2008 with a master’s degree in Evolutionary Biology. She is also a Board-Certified Entomologist (BCE) through the Entomological Society of America. She joined the Tangipahoa Mosquito Abatement District #1 in Hammond as the entomologist in March 2008, became Assistant Director at the beginning of 2018, and director in April of 2024.
She has been a member of both the American Mosquito Control Association and Louisiana Mosquito Control Association (LMCA) since 2008. She was elected to the LMCA board in 2012, served as Vice President in 2014 and 2021, and President in 2015 and 2022. She serves on multiple LMCA committees and was previously a co-editor for the newest addition of the Louisiana Mosquito control training manual. She is also the South Central Regional Director of the American Mosquito Control Association.
She is the current Secretary of the IBoosters parent organization for Hammond High Magnet School and is a 2012 graduate of the Leadership Tangipahoa program.
Colby lives in Hammond, Louisiana with her husband, Aaron, and their daughter, Madeline.
